Welcome to Ethiopian Red Cross Society ERCS. The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) established on the eve of Ethio-Italian war of 1936-40,by government decree of July 8,1935 and recognized by the ICRC the same year; it joined the International Federation in 1950. In October 1947 , the society was granted its first charter which was issued in the "Negarit Gazeta". In subsequent years, the society established the first nursing school in the country in 1969. It also expanded its relief programs for victims of natural and man made disasters
